Cafe JJ Mourn The Loss of Our Founder Valerie Hutchinson
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our inspirational co-founder Valerie Hutchinson passed away on Saturday 1st February.
Val was a fierce advocate for inclusivity, equality and disability rights. Her dedication has improved the lives of countless individuals and families. Val’s vision for Cafe JJ created an award-winning asset to the Darlington community and her unwavering commitment to developing the skills, confidence and self-esteem of adults with learning disabilities has had a immense positive impact on our team members, staff, volunteers and customers.
Val was a compassionate friend and mentor, generous with her time and knowledge. She will be incredibly missed by us all and we will strive to continue her legacy.
Our cafe will be open tomorrow as usual but please bear with us as we navigate this immeasurable loss.
At Val’s request there will be no funeral service. We will have a book of condolence in the cafe for you to share memories and messages of love and support to Joe and John if you wish.
